We follow faded signs of you, To see a picture perfect view We find The stars painted in blue Sunsets with a photo of you Oh the couple downstairs fights It keeps me up at night Oh the lessons that i write The same thing every night Sunsets that you and i adore But your whispers say much more She kicks me out the door Till i come back to her cold floor Oh the couple downstairs fights You give me one more night Oh the lessons that i write The same thing every night

how long is it gonna take? wait for a month, wait for it to break I know you tried to change it I know because we were there just last week. and each one's a mistake you made but we don't talk about it hey, are you alone? did you sit with it, just for a little while? I hope each word feels just like a needle and every time they say them that they dig deeper take the day and do nothing about it; next episode is dinner somewhere else I tried so many times but I just end up back on the shelf and he's in perfect health 14 and losing sleep about it not that bad, once it's in perspective used to run like motorcycles now we're leaving today, the first one without you and I feel like I'm forgetting something but I'm not sure what and I just feel like you changed nothing at all and I'll have to move this one around not right to do it right now and you can blame your bad impression on your lack of reason but we see right through it everyone does and you can look like your dad I'm tired of talking about it and acting like I don't care (sometimes it just isn't fair) and each one's a battle of disregards and you change nothing at all each one's a battle of disregards and I just say:

You wake up with the wind runnin circles through your hair An your just so unaware Of the way i used to play every single day An i'd wonder what she'd say But i'll just hang in there You just in your underwear Our lessons everywhere Cryin in your grandmas chair I can't explain the way i felt Your fingers on myself Just one of those days where i'd rather run away But you'd make me wanna stay Wind blows as the earth it slows You dont wanna stay here (Its wrong for us to feel this way Yeah u realized that i cannot stay Its wrong for us to feel this way Heartache follows me away Its wrong for us to feel this way Grab my heart and run away) (Behind the things that i say Were really not okay The couples have their fights And they say theyll be alright And you turn to me and say "We wont end up that way" But who's to say we have a say Every empty space in my heart Is a place for us to start Every empty space in my heart Is a place for us to start) But i'll just hang in there You just in your underwear Our lessons everywhere Cryin in your grandmas chair

If I don't defend your art and I just accept it then I'm just as bad strung a lead over the rail feet over the edge down when you least expect this can't be that bad, where to go when there's no trail? but I can't blame it on you Even if that's what I do and this is one we can do at the wedding when you're tired and lilted or running on empty I'm afraid that I'll actually do something and choke on whatever comes after, following I find space in the simple things, then the barn and the cog, or something you'd bring out of all the jokes that could've stuck with me that is the one that you say to me but I can't blame it on you Even if that's what I do

laughing through your years of service and crying under oath waiting for the waves to come by living through the radio when I come back nothing different nothing has changed something comes up and we all have to find out how to stay the same I wish that we'd go back But it's not enough and it never was I'm still trying hard to find the shape the one that works or the one that fits but I just feel that it's all gone to waste because it's not enough and it never was I still am trying hard to find the shape the one that works or the one that fits but I just feel that we're always laughing through your years of service and crying under oath waiting for the waves to come by listen to the radio when I get back nothing's different nothing has changed something comes out and we all have to stay the same we can always change it back get together and find some reason to go out and celebrate lying on the floor come back for more so many days go and I can't find a way to leave it alone lying on the floor come back for more give me a thousand reasons but I just think that it should be left alone.
